The LaTIM laboratory is looking for a Postdoctoral researcher in Computer Vision / Pose Estimation applied for Medical Interventions.
As part of the FOLLOW-KNEE university-hospital research program (funded over 5 years), aimed at implementing an innovative solution for the treatment of osteoarthritis of the knee, the consortium, led by Inserm and bringing together several industrial, institutional and clinical partners, hires a postdoctoral researcher.
The position will be based at the LATIM (Medical Information Processing Laboratory), a joint research unit between University Hospital of brest, University of Brest, IMT Atlantique and Inserm. Born from the complementarity between the field of Stic and Health, LATIM is nationally and internationally recognized for its expertise, its contribution in medical imaging and the implementation of innovative solutions in oncology and interventional therapies.
The objective of the position is to develop a new method for markerless pose estimation using sensors (RGB-D cameras, inertial data, HD images, …). The final aims are to track/check surgery instruments/knee prosthesis positions during the intervention and to display crucial information to the surgeon with augmented reality devices. Due to the clinical context, a robust approach, especially considering occlusion and illumination, have to be proposed. Machine learning method may be a solution to address the robustness issue. Considering both depth and color information may be also one potential solution to explore.
