Dear colleagues, dear friends,
CALL FOR PAPERS
Deadline for abstract / paper submissions: 10th January 2019
The CARS congress is the annual event for a distinguished international community of scientists, engineers and physicians to present and discuss the key innovations that shape modern medicine on a worldwide basis.
Founded in 1983, CARS has played a leading role in medical and imaging informatics for more than 30 years by focusing on research and development on novel algorithms and systems and their applications in radiology and surgery. Its growth and impact is due to CARS’s close collaboration with the IFCARS, ISCAS, CAR, CAD, CMI and IPCAI organizations.
Recent successful CARS congresses have taken place in Barcelona, Berlin, Paris, Tokyo, San Francisco, London, Chicago, Osaka, Geneva, Pisa, Fukuoka, and Heidelberg. We would be delighted to welcome you at CARS 2019, which will take place in Rennes, one of the leading cities for medical research and development in France, where the congress will take place in a very special historic setting.
Following the long term successful cooperation with CARS congresses in many parts of the world, in 2019 these prestigious scientific communities will jointly hold their annual meetings as part of the 33rd CARS Congress in Rennes, France.
At the CARS congress you will have the opportunity to meet scholars and practising experts in the fields of radiology, surgery, clinical medicine, engineering, informatics and healthcare management who have an interest in topics, such as
New IT-systems adapted to clinical environments, such as the operating room, but in particular, new methods and IT-tools for modelling the patient and medical processes as well as artificial intelligence (AI) systems are increasingly shaping the scope of CARS. Clinical specialties represented at CARS include:
In close cooperation with institutions which presented clinical results of novel IT methods and tools in IJCARS, special emphasis will be given to innovative clinical investigations which show significant advances in clinical workflows and patient outcomes.
Please note that the deadline for paper and abstract submissions for CARS 2019 in Rennes is January 10, 2019. In addition to the abstract/paper submission, you are invited to submit short and informal proposals on tutorials, workshops and other special events which potentially can enhance the mission of CARS which is innovation, interdisciplinarity and internationality.
The four-day congress consists of invited talks by internationally recognized experts, approx. 200 paper presentations, as well as exhibits and posters. Special focus sessions as well as product exhibits in the industrial exhibition are planned to give participants access to hot topics and new CARS-related products.
Tutorials, workshops and special events related to the above topics complement the regular sessions of CARS and are organized under the auspices of the International Foundation of CARS.
Relevant research and developments in Radiology, Surgery, Dentistry, Computer Science, and Biomedical Engineering and Modelling including but not limited to:
33rd International Congress and Exhibition on Computer Assisted Radiology (CAR)
Chair: Ulrich Bick, MD (D)
23rd Annual Conference of the International Society for Computer Aided Surgery
President: Kensaku Mori, PhD (J)
Extended abstracts or full papers including new methods, devices, systems and applications, clinical studies, position papers, and poster topics for presentation at the congress are solicited. Submissions will be peer-reviewed by members of the CARS international program committee.
CARS follows a two-tier system:
1) Extended abstracts of accepted lecture and poster presentations (typically containing novel work-in-progress results) will be published in the CARS 2019 Proceedings, Supplement of IJCARS, which will be distributed to all congress participants.
2) Peer-reviewed and after thorough revision accepted full paper contributions (typically containing validated results of original R&D work) will be included in regular issues of the International Journal of CARS.
Authors should send their submissions through the CARS website, see further information and guidelines at www.cars-int.org.
Submission of abstracts / papers: January 10, 2019
Notification of acceptance: February 8, 2019
Registration of presenting authors: March 4, 2019
Submission of final abstracts: March 8, 2019
