We would like to bring to your attention an interdisciplinary workshop "Big Bang, Big Data, Big Computers" (Big3) on the computer science and statistics of contemporary Cosmic Microwave Background data analysis, to be held in Paris from Sept 19-21, 2012 in the AstroParticule et Cosmologie (APC) Laboratory at the Paris Rive Gauche Campus of the Université Paris Diderot.

Aim and scope

The main idea of the workshop is to bring together people from different walks of science relevant, or potentially relevant, to CMB data analysis. The latter is an extremely active and timely area of observational cosmology, which over the years has contributed enormously to our understanding of the Universe, and which constantly poses novel, exciting challenges in diverse areas of the scientific research, and for which an interdisciplinary approach will be an extremely fruitful — if not the only — way forward.

More information about the workshop can be found on our website:
http://www.apc.univ-paris7.fr/APC/Conferences/Workshop_Big3/Home.html

The workshop will feature a number of invited reviews as well as contributed presentations on selected computer science, signal processing, statistics, and applied math topics alongside talks by CMB data analysis practitioners. We hope that this will infuse CMB data analysis with new knowledge of recent developments in these fields, while at the same time present CMB problems to a wider audience.

Topics of interest include (please check website for more examples):

inverse problems, optimization techniques, parametric and non-parametric estimation, image reconstruction, etc

Abstract submission

An abstract submission of the contributed talks is now open. To do so follow the registration link below. The contributed talks are expected to complement the invited talks program and be typically more focused on some specific issue relevant to the workshop goals, while presenting original, though potentially published, work by the authors. The list of topics relevant for this meeting can be found at:
