Post-doc in Medical Signal and Image Processing

6 Février 2023

Catégorie : Post-doctorant

2 years postdoctoral fellowship in medical signal and image processing

Context

Relapse characterization is an open research field in Cancerology. In our clinical context, identifying patterns in imagery and biological data of brain tumors is a key step in preventing relapse, and can help to adapt specific treatments. Indeed, specific metabolic adaptations after therapy can occur, leading to radioresistance and recurrence processes. In this project, we aim at analyzing longitudinal data in order to predict such metabolic shifts, and this based on Magnetic Resonance (MR) Spectroscopic Imaging (MRSI), which is one of the strongest imaging modalities to perform this task.

Objectives

The aim of this project is to decipher the metabolic shift after treatment and to validate this shift in clinic through multimodal data. Metabolites will be studied and quantified using MRSI spectra acquired longitudinally from patients included in a clinical trial.

Advanced and new signal processing methodologies will contribute to detect subtle and possibly new metabolites unrevealed and unstudied so far in the metabolic shift. Denoising methods, combined with deep learning techniques will be developed to analyze spectra extracted and denoised based on longitudinal MRSI data. Both methodological and applied contributions are expected. As an example, the use of recurrent and generative deep neural networks seems interesting for this application. Multimodal analyzes will be also performed combining MRSI-based metabolites and spectra extracted from biological data.

Skills

PhD in signal and image processing or related field, with expertise in signal processing and image analysis, as well as Python programming. Knowledge in Magnetic Resonance Imaging of the brain and its physiopathology will also be strongly valued. The candidate should be fluent in English (and preferably in French), with good communication and organizational skills. The candidate is expected to be highly motivated and to work independently with a strong work ethic. Applications including a cover letter, a detailed CV including a publication list if relevant and recommendation letters of up to three referees should be sent.
